Norwegian pud
Dare I get excited yet? I got to hear my new kitten squeak tonight, during a phone call from his breeder. He's only 3 days old and has already increased his birth weight from 88gm to 120gm. I've waited months for this. Of course he won't come to live with me until early March but really, that's not so far off.
Naming will be fun. Whatever I choose has to go with "Snowstars". I have a shortlist already which I've sent to the breeder to pick from.
Oh crossing fingers that all goes well!

Awww, little squeaky squirmy thing! <3 When do we start getting to see pictures?

I'll post them here just as soon as I get some. I'm hanging out for some myself! All I can tell you at this point is that he is either black and white or possibly black tabby and white, and had a dead-straight profile at birth.. which is exactly what we want!

Oh, how exciting! I look forward to seeing piccies! Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you! I'm sweating on some photos too, but the breeder has visitors now until the weekend so I may not get any just yet. :-(

What breed is he? Perhaps I should know this...
I see that you keep Birmans which look beautiful cats though I've never met one.
And I know that there is a breed called Norwegian Forest cats - is your new kitten one of those?
miwahni: cats Snookymiwahni on December 20th, 2011 08:53 pm (UTC)
Yes, he's a Norwegian Forest Cat! I had one previously, who passed away back in May at 11 years old *points to icon* and I miss him dreadfully still. They're a really fun breed; active and alert, while also being very easy-going.
Up until a couple of years back I used to breed Birmans, and still have a half dozen or so of those. They are beautiful, and exceptionally friendly and playful cats, as well as being rather forceful personalities!
And then there's Bodie, my red classic tabby domestic shorthair who was a rescue kitty. He LOOKS like a bruiser but is actually quite reserved and a bit of a wuss.

Snowstars Special Snowflake! YAY! :^) I hope you show us lots of pics when you get him.

Hee! Too many letters - can't go over 24 letters and spaces combined. I'm leaning towards Woodstock at the moment, with Heathcliffe, Moriarty, Beowulf and Stormbringer on my shortlist.

I've found that pets tend to develop personalities that match their names! My Honey was sweet, my Bonnie is beautiful (despite having been the ugliest kitten I've ever seen), my Dayna had homicidal fits. :^) So I'd be afraid to name a cat Moriarty. :^)

Not to be pushing any on you, but I'm having fun playing with names.
Snowstars Dazzle, Snowstars Glitter, Snowstars Shadow (well if it's a dark color), Snowstars Diamond (if a light color), Snowstars Mist (if a grey).

OH, I just read that he's either black and white or black tabby and white with a perfect profile, so how about Snowstars Silhouette? (Silky or Silly for short)

You're really on a roll with these! I actually like Snowstars Glitter a lot; a pure white would be perfect with that name.

I bet you were squeeing all over the house for hours. *g* How lovely to hear that little squeak. Is he very far away? Maybe you could visit him, although early March is really only a couple of months away.

Bodie's nose will be put a little bit out of joint. As long as he doesn't teach the new babe any of his tricks.

I was! I'm surprised you couldn't hear me squee from your place! And yeah, he's a bit far to go for a visit - Woodstock, NSW, which is just outside of Cowra, so about a 14 hour drive.
I'm hoping Bodie will see him as a playmate. He's pretty easygoing (when he's not actively tormenting the others) and I think he'd like someone to play with him.

Re: Norwegian pud
One important thing about the new little lad - he must be taught to be a "pizza cat" of course. I'm sure Snook would definitely approve of that! March won't come too soon, will it? {squeaky hugs}

Re: Norwegian pud
Oh definitely he'll need to learn to sit on pizza boxes! Any boxes at all, really.
