Second post
I'm not a maker of resolutions usually, mainly because I'm really good at not sticking to things, but this year I do mean to try to update here more regularly.

Back to work tomorrow - felt a bit funny setting my alarm for 5.30am again after ten glorious days. Well I say glorious; truth be told it's been hot all the way through. There are clouds, now, that look like we could get a storm soon, but it's still over 30C. It was 28C when I got up this morning; that's been the pattern of the last week.

Oh Sherlock - I am such a jumble of emotions now! I will need to rewatch the episode, I know that, but already I've been to tumblr to pick up on bits I missed. One more week to wait now, to see how it plays out. VERY muted squee today for sure. I enjoyed it, but it's left me with mixed feelings about the main players. Really longing for the far simpler times of S1 and S2 now.

I didn't like it. As so often with Dr Who, Moffat made it all about his OCs.

This ep was written by Mark Gatiss. But there certainly was too much Mary (although not an OC) and I didn't need all that AJ either.

I haven't watched Sherlock yet, but I expect I shall have mixed feelings with the first watch too. I had mixed feelings about series 3 and about last year's special.

I loved the first two eps of S3, but HLV just threw me for a loop. I keep forgetting about TAB as it barely advanced the story, although it does give clues about Sherlock's mental state. S4 E1 on the surface is a straightforward tale, but nothing in the Moftiss world is ever just on the surface, is it?

I didn't like HLV much.

I've started to watch episode 1, and have had to pause to reply to your comment because... Sherlock just sent a text message about a brother in law and odd socks - that text appears in one of my fics (except I say brother). That was a bit... odd!

I had such trouble even watching it due to storms first cutting off our power then my local PBS station cutting in every few minutes with loud storm warning noises and LONG listings of all the counties under storm watch, so loud I couldn't hear any of the dialogue. So I tried taping it the second time, it came on again right after that first airing, and still the first half hour was cut into by the dratted storm warning announcements. But I did get the gist of it all the second time and have to say I too long in some part for the simpler days, for that first glorious bff blush of enthusiasm and dare I say attraction between John and Sherlock. Now it's all so complicated and dark and I just never liked Mary all that much and found her 'vocation' troubling in light of her becoming a mother, etc.

I found Mary's vocation troubling in her role as wife who never bothered to tell her husband about some pretty important "details" and went as far as concocting a backstory for herself. I actually really liked her in the first two eps of S3 but the third ep killed any appreciation I had for the character.

Oh, Sherlock! I think I said somewhere else that I want to watch the ep again too - but I liked it. And I've been expecting M all through, cos it's in books. So maybe it will get simpler again, now! People marrying and having families really does interrupt things, doesn't it! *g*

ETA - Also - ack for that heat! It's been blue-sky cold here today, and tonight was frosty on the way home from the cinema!

In the books it's alluded to, never really explained, but I did wonder how they could continue the show without going through that step.

We've just had a lovely cool change blow in and the temps dropped by about 10 degrees within a short space of time. Bliss!
