National Day Of Shame
Today is National Say Sorry To A Kiwi Day. 25 years ago today, in the third and deciding final of the Benson & Hedges World Series Cricket competition, last ball of the 50th over and New Zealand needed 6 runs to win. Doable, but not entirely probable. Then Trevor Chappell comes in to bowl that last ball, and instead shoots it underarm down the pitch, allowing it to dribble along the ground towards the disgusted NZ batsman. Shame, Australia, shame. It may have been legal, but it's just not cricket.
