It's Time

I think I've mentioned here previously that my dad was a staunch Liberal supporter all his life, and that he stood for Federal election on a number of occasions. Of course we lived in the Werriwa electorate, whose sitting member was Labor MP Gough Whitlam so he really didn't have a hope in Tartarus. Nevertheless my adolescence was filled with electioneering, mailbox stuffing, and yes, I was one of those annoying people handing out pamphlets at the school on election day.
Which just makes it even more surprising to realise, while watching Fifty Years of Australian TV News (or whatever it was called) on Channel 9 tonight - that if I'd been old enough to vote in the 1972 election, and held the attitudes and opinions that I hold now, I'd have voted for Gough.
