If ever you needed proof that language is a living entity which is constantly evolving, then go no further than the Editor's column in today's Courier Mail. Referring to the Corby defense team, he uses the word "shambolic", which Dictionary.com defines as being "chiefly British slang, probably from the alteration of shambles" .
When a word migrates from British slang to the Editor's column, I'd say it has become a part of mainstream language.
