Random Violin

I think it's due to rain this week.

I didn't let that stop me from cleaning my car inside and out though. We've had so many rainy days forecasted lately, and I had put my car off for so long because of it, but I couldn't stand it any longer. So it's washed, chamoised, (is that a word? Used a chamois to dry it off) with windows polished inside and out, tyres blacked, vacuumed through, and the dash and other hard surfaces dusted and coated with a protective liquid. Looks like new again! I'll need new seat covers soon as they're starting to look a bit ratty around the edges; not surprising, as I bought them for my previous car.

Anyway. Prior to that, watched the V8 telecast from NZ, only to have the satellite feed drop out two laps from the end when the reigning champion was all over the rear bumper of the lead car; by the time the feed was restored the race was over and the victor was doing celebratory burnouts. They did later replay the last two laps so we could see how they played out, and they were the most exciting part of the whole race. If I'd seen them live I'd have been on the edge of the chair and shouting at the tv.

Back to work tomorrow. My boss stopped by my office last week for a bit of a chat, during which I mentioned how tired I was of having to fight to get anything done - she suggested I start taking some long weekends as I have more than enough holiday time booked up. Could do, I suppose; I have 13 weeks long service leave still available and over 9 weeks annual leave, with only two weeks actually booked to take. I'm going to Darwin in June for the V8 Supercars at Hidden Valley, a track I've always wanted to see, and then I have a friend coming to stay for a few days. I'd like to head off o/s again next year, and that will take 4 - 5 weeks lsl but that's all I have planned. Hmmm, the long weekend idea is starting to sound better and better....
