The things you learn

So my last customer today works as an IT manager for a company which is constructing a local dam. Talking about the cost of it, he mentioned that $5M of the budget was used to install a fish elevator. This was something I'd never heard of, and seriously thought he was taking the piss until I was able to google it and discovered that yes, there really is such a thing.
Now I'm wondering how they train the fish to push the little elevator buttons *g*.
