That's not varnish on my thumbnail; rather it's the result of not paying attention to the position of my hand before slamming the car door on Tuesday night. Xray seems to have ruled out a fracture (doctor was to ring me if it needed to be splinted) but can you say "hurties" with me? In the immediate aftermath I sat cradling the hand in my lap and reminding myself that I've endured childbirth so surely this was bearable; well I'm starting to reconsider that. At least childbirth had an immediate payoff.

It's certainly the first time I've typed the phrase "swollen, purple and throbbing" when talking about myself at any rate.

I'm wincing just looking at that thing... Hmmm, that may be the first time I've typed that in these circumstances too. *g*

I hope it feels better soon. ♥

Well at least out of my pain came some new experiences for us both!
(wow that was one awkward sentence; you know what I mean).

Thanks ♥

... and that sentence probably belongs in fan fiction too. *g*

Ow, ow, ow!
As I discovered when I did something similar a few years ago, it really brings home the meaning of "sticking out like a sore thumb", doesn't it? Hope you feel better soon.

Oh yes it does indeed! Thank you.

Oh, I did that a few months ago, and ow and ow and ow! The tip of my finger was so flat and squished that I couldn't believe it was okay, and the pad of my finger was numb and oddly-sensationed for weeks afterwards, so that I couldn't believe I hadn't killed all my nerve endings (except for the ones going yeowwwww), and my fingernail is still only half-grown back underneath (though I've been kind of fascinated watching it...) At least now it's fingernail-coloured, but they grow in layers as well as from the bottom - who knew? *g* Mind you, mine wasn't so beautifully evenly purple as yours is... Hope it feels better soon!

It sounds as though I'll have something to look forward too, then, even if it's only watching it grow back. And ouchies to you, too, it's not fun. Thank you!

OW! Oh, much sympathies! It will hurt less if you think about other things! Read some good fic?

Ooh, thank you. Much fic-reading has been done, too.

Oh my, that looks painful. (I'm flashing back to my little 'un getting her fingers caught in a door a couple of years ago. I've been paranoid about doors, especially the car doors, ever since.)

Hope it heals quickly and well.

Oh thank you for the hugs. It must have been awful for Roz, she's too little to understand about pain eventually going. And it's so hard to watch your kids suffer.

She rather freaked out, especially when I had to hold her hand still until someone could open the bloody door from the other side. (I still get flashbacks about that one.) But I'm sure it wasn't any more fun for you, knowing what was going on.

Ouch! What a bugger! I bet the air was as blue as your thumbnail when you did this.

Have to get Dr. Robert to come kiss it better for you.

*HUGS* ♥

Thank you, and thanks for the prescription which is bound to help! *g*

Actually I didn't swear at all - I didn't have breath for it, and was too busy trying not to be sick from the pain. I've let fly a few times since then, though, every time that I've managed to knock it.

Re: Ouch
OMFG!!! Huge late huggles to you from me too! That would have hurt like crazy (being nice and not saying what I'm thinking) ... and yes, I did that when I was a kid - in the old HR Special which was built like a Sherman Tank! F'n hurt like anything ... hope it's better now and that you are healing quickly.

Re: Ouch
"Hurt" is not the word. I barely slept the first night, and found myself knocking it for days afterwards, to a flare of agony. It's not that painful now but the nail is black so I expect it will fall off soon. Swelling has nearly gone, too, but the whole end of the thumb feels a bit numb and tingly. Better than being sore I guess!
