Just not on.
Our PM recently lost her father. I don't care what side of politics you're on, you don't make snide comments - at a public function - about that. Veteran (is he really in his 70s now? Time really gets away) radio broadcaster Alan Jones should know better; he stated at a Young Libs dinner "The old man recently died a few weeks ago of shame, to think that he had a daughter who told lies every time she stood for Parliament."

I'm pleased to read that his show's sponsors are pulling out in droves.

There's this thing called common decency...

Exactly. I nearly choked when I heard about it on the news. Shame, Alan, shame.

Alan Jones is a twerp! Yeah, he's a veteran broadcaster ... we don't listen to him tho, so I only heard about this when it was on the news. Good on Julia Gillard for basically saying "bugger orf" when she said she had no intentions of speaking with him. I think what he said was disgusting - nothing more, nothing less.

BTW, my icon says it all about another description of Mr Jones, hey? ;)

So... Alan Jones is an albino cockroach? *g* It was pretty low, wasn't it. Regardless of what side of politics you're on, there's a line you just don't cross.

Late as usual to comment ... haven't been on LJ for a while, have I? :( Yeah, but I guess I was doing the cockroach a big disservice comparing it to Alan Jones! The latest political BS is apparently a police raid at a pollie's home on the Central Coast .... ah well, better get back under my rock now. LOL

Hadn't heard about that... in fact I've not seen or read news since Sunday. How's that for living under a rock?!
