Don't mention the heat.

Temperature map of Australia today. Apparently the BOM had to add a new colour at the top of the scale, which previously topped out at 50 degrees C.

Might I just say - ew, ew, ew! *g*

Have some nice, cooling snow!

Right now that would be lovely thank you!

You know? I've got nothing about the new color (even if it's purple!).

But I'd much rather have the snow; and the -15 we've had since the beginning of the year.

This morning (it's almost 8), we've got a nice -8C :-)

-8C is just a tad nippy, don't you think? *g* And -15C is not a real temperature. I don't understand how people can live in those climates, it's waaayyy too cold for me.

It is rather warm. *bg* So many bushfires burning, hundreds in Victoria, and even Hobart's temp is higher than Darwin's!

Where did you find that map? On BoM? I couldn't.

Even bushfires on Bribie Island today, with evacuations from the national park. Last night the air here was really smoky but I don't know where it was blowing in from.

Photo was published on radio station 3AW's website, originally from The Age newspaper.

... and there's an animated version, showing how the heatwave will roll across the country, on the ABC's website.

Oh my gawd! That animated map! It looks horrendous as if the whole country is on fire, and doesn't look as if we in SE Qld will get a break until the 15th.

Thanks for the link.

I loathe heat. Genetics obviously intended me to live a LOT further North.

Good luck with staying cool.

I reckon it HAS to be genetic, the ability to thrive in and enjoy extremes of climate, hot or cold. *g*
Managed to spend most of the day in air conditioning; had to deliver some docs first-up which necessitated a 2km round trip on foot but got it done before things heated up too much.
