30 Days of Blogging - Day 3. Friday!
There are the important things, and then there are the things that really don't matter, like having an underwear set that matches. Most of my underwear is utilitarian; pretty colours and soft fabrics but designed with practicality in mind. Today I thought I'd treat myself to an actual matching set, and after much looking around I finally found something I liked, that I could also wear to work without it showing through my uniform but was still frilly and frothy and lacy and altogether girly, which god knows I'm not. It wasn't until I got it home that I saw it was labelled as Bridal Wear. *g* Nah, not going down that path again.

I'm always vaguely amused the way everyone on TV and in films always has matching bra and knickers. :D

...although, come to think of it, most of mine appear to match as 98% of my underwear is black.

Bridal wear, eh? Erm... that doesn't even make marketing sense as that's got to be a pretty small section of the population, right?

If they were relying on brides to buy it they'd be in trouble for sure.

I have some black underwear but our work uniform includes very see-through blouses; even with a camisole on a coloured bra will show through so I'm restricted to white and nude coloured bras for work. Shame, as I have some really pretty ones - just none that have matching knickers.

I was looking for very pale stockings or tights a while ago - pale as in pearl/cream rather than so-called 'nude' skin tones (which make quite a lot of assumptions about skin tones, I have to say). And the only place I could find any was in the bridal wear section of the largest department store in town. Apart from that, they just don't exist.

I'm faintly relieved to find out that it's not just here and that the same is true on the other side of the world...

Fashion's a funny thing. I can remember when the really pale shades were everywhere, and in all thicknesses. I still have a pair of really lacy cream stockings that were only worn on special occasions, and they date back to about 1987. I don't think I've seen those pale colours since then, though. Good on you for persevering until you found them. And like you said, pleased to know that it's not just here.

Love your lube gun oil icon, btw.

There is a story behind that :)
