30 Days of Blogging - Day Twentythree
I was invited to apply for another position last month, and promptly did so - or at least I thought I did. I haven't heard anything back at all which is rather odd, so I just conducted a quick search back through my Sent items. Nothing. I have no idea how I managed that; I have the emails I sent to a friend just prior to applying, and the one I sent to a colleague after I applied, but no application appears in my sent box.

*sigh*. Fortunately applications hadn't closed yet, so I've just sent it off again, along with an application for yet another position.

The worst bit of applying for another role is the cover letter. I have been known to stare at a blank page for upwards of an hour, trying to work out how to start the rotten thing off....

Give me the job, else you'll regret it.

What? You're not prepared to consider a fresh approach?

Funny you should say that.... *g*

Many years ago when applying for a job my cover letter began "Once upon a time there was a little girl...." and went on from there - all leading up to the fairytale come true job that I was applying for. I got it, too :D God knows I've been tempted along those lines since but you never know whether it will be seen as a professional approach or if the HR person has a sense of humour.
