Feeling a bit strange tonight.

Today was my last day at St.George; by the time my impending holidays are over I'll no longer be an employee. It feels funny, after all this time, to know that when I go back to work next month it will be in a new place, with new policies and systems to learn. I'm so used to being the go-to person at work, it will be odd being at the other end of the food chain for a while.

At least I'm going out on a high note. I had to print out the current sales leaderboard, just as proof - I'm currently sitting in the number one spot. Of course that won't last, as I only have about $310k left to settle now. Everything I've approved in the last two weeks I've done under a colleague's employee number, as I won't be around at bonus time to derive any benefit from the sale.

Due to our branch closing for renovations last Friday and our subsequent relocation to our regional office, I didn't have to do too much to clear out my desk today. I still managed to put in a good days' work, approving two loans and following up on everything else in my files, responding to the 55 emails that were waiting for me when I logged on this morning, and to all that arrived during the day. I think the saddest bit was changing the voicemail message on my work mobile to say that I am no longer employed by St.George, and giving my colleague's phone number as a reference point. And of course emailing all of my top clients, those that I didn't get a chance to ring this week, and just letting them know that I was leaving. I waited until 4pm to do that, and for the next hour my inbox was filling with replies to that.

The whole thing was overshadowed, though, by my impending trip. Off to the airport tomorrow morning for a flight to Sydney, then onward to New Zealand. I've been counting down the sleeps to the trip more than anything! So forgive me if my presence here is a bit erratic over the next couple of weeks. Stay safe and well, all, and I'll pop in when I can.
