Well my area of the UK is in the darker shade of yellow , and at the moment its pouring with rain with quite heavy gusts but at least we aren't in the red zone.

Well studying your map we are just in the orange zone ... Oh I thought we might get away with it seems not.

You did have a big blow though, and were lucky to get away with minimal damage. Mother Nature is really turning on her kids at the moment.

That she is it isn't just the UK I'm afraid , the only positive is that it hasn't snowed yet, just the wind and the rain so far.

I hope that's still the case, and the snow stays away. I saw what was happening snow-wise in the US, that was bad enough!

I'm in NW England, right there in the red zone. I actually don't remember having a red weather warning in this area ever before! The wind has been getting stronger all day, but is due to get worse from about now onwards until tonight, when we're due to get 80 - 100 MPH gusts. It's all rather dramatic, but we're all just keeping calm and carrying on, and all that :-)

Hi! I'm in Lancaster, so a bit closer to the coast than you.

I hope you survived it okay! Big winds, lots of trees down... you know it's big when it makes the lead-in story on the radio news in Australia.

Thank you! That was a really nice update to see on my friends list. I'm down in an orange bit, but it is fearsome here. I just had a quick stumble to the beach, and most of it is on the road, and the sand was lacerating as it flew through the air.

So we went for an ice-cream on the way back.

As you do! Nothing like a sandy ice-cream.
Seriously though I was looking at pictures of damaged houses in Swansea today. I do hope you escaped the storm unscathed.

Well, yes! Actually, I didn't have an ice-cream, but other one did. And had it covered up to take home, because yes, the sand! It was everywhere! It was like a sandstorm on the coast road, screaming through the wind, and there are sand dunes on the road now.

May go and take pictures again shortly; it's all dropped off a lot now.

I hope you did, I'd like to see them.
