Woolworths the Fat Food People
Woolies is running a competition to win a home entertainment package, and to enter all you have to do is buy any three eligible products from participating brands in a single transaction. Looking through their catalogue to find the eligbile products, I found icecreams, Skittles, kid-size packets of chips, adult-size packets of chips, popcorn, potato chip multi-packs, Coke, Doritos, Smiths Chips, Mother, lemonade, marshmallows, chocolate, Cherry Ripes and Turkish delight, soft drink mixers, Lindt chocolate, Tim Tams, Loacker chocolate biscuits.... I think you're getting the picture. Also Moccona coffee, home brand soup, tacos and pot noodles.
And they call themselves the fresh food supermarket! No wonder Australia is ranked third in the world in obesity stakes.

At least the popcorn isn't too bad....me, I'd be scrambling for the tukish delight myself. It seems strange to me to hear the Woolworths name as I grew up going to them with my family but one by one the decrepit stores that were left finally closed. What was left were bought out by a bigger corporation. So I haven't really seen the name since I was a kid. It never occured to me that Woolworths were operating in another country.

I wonder if your Woolworths is owed by the Wal-Mart company, who bought it out here. The goods they're selling and their promo sounds very much like Wal-Mart here.

Hmmm small world....

The name Woolworths can be found in a few countries; in South Africa it's a huge company that mainly owns up-market department stores. Here in Australia it's also a huge company but with a focus on supermarkets and liquor stores, plus the Big W discount dept store. No connection with Wal Mart though.
