We have a lady where I work whose name isn't Nora but for the sake of anonymity I shall call her that. And in truth it could well be her name, because she is the worst speller ever, to the point where we often have to ring her to ask her what she was trying to say in her file notes. Recently she's taken to drawing up her notes in Word and running spell checker over them before pasting them into the loan submission, and it's resulted in some hilarious Nora-isms. Like the following:
1. "She has a really strong accident" . (Oh dear, I do hope no-one was hurt).
2. "He is a maniacal engineer". (mad as a two-bob watch but boy can he design bridges!)
3. "He is a signal at home with his father". (and when he's downtown he's a guardrail)
4. "She understands that the funds are to be kept in truant". (they'll never graduate if they keep that up)

It's not only Nora who gives us a giggle though. Valuers are often unwittingly funny; I had one valuation today where the valuer, describing the locality of the subject property, listed the cemetery as a local feature. Maybe it's popular with teenagers on nights when the moon is full.

Twice in my life I had a cemetery as a neighbour. IMHO, you can't have better one : they never stay up late or play music at the top of their boomboxes.
Plus it makes for a beautiful yard :-)
The first time was when I was very young (before I started school) : it also made for a nice playground ;-/

You make some rather good points - I wouldn't mind being next to a cemetery. It just sounded weird, listing it as a feature of the suburb. Like hey, if you cark it, you won't have far to go!

Exactly. The second time was during my condo owning period : I had the hospital 5 minutes away, my financial institution was 2 minutes, as was the pharmacy, and the cemetery just behind the building (all those times are walking distances, by the way).

I was only missing the funeral parlor ;-/

... and I'm laughing more than I really should at that...
