Not too sure about this...
I was given a home log-in to my work desktop today, and I'm not really certain that it's a good idea. Up to now, on really busy days at work, I couldn't be expected to work of an evening as well. But now that I can access my work desktop from home, it's a little bit harder to get out of doing extra hours. Of course it would be a bonus if I was short of sick leave and had to work from home for a couple of days because I was too ill to go to work, but that's about the only advantage that I can see.
I'm so used to working with two screens, too, that it will be awkward and difficult to revert to just one. Might have to see if I can log in from my laptop, and connect my big monitor to that as well so I have both screens running.

See, they're the good things about having a remote log-in - if I could work from home a couple of days per week it would be useful as I leave home at 6.55am to start work before 8.30am, and while I knock off at 5pm I'm rarely home before 6.30pm. So working from home would save me around three hours per day in commute time.
I'm more concerned around the overtime scene; it's harder to say no to overtime when you don't actually have to come into the office to do it.
