It's 1.33am on Sunday and I'm functioning on four hours' sleep from last night. Rain is pattering down outside and the air is thick with humidity, and my little weather tracker tells me it's still 22C outside. Probably a bit more than that inside. I should be exhausted but instead I feel wide awake; what's the bet that when I do go to bed I'll be out like a light in seconds. Firstly though there will be ice cream.

My sister's birthday today, and we went out for dinner to a fantastic Turkish restaurant with brilliant food and even a belly dancer. Belly dancing lessons have now been added to my bucket list, it's something I'd like to learn. And if a big belly is supposed to be sexy then I'll be fighting them off with sticks. *g*.

Today was the annual putting-up-of-the-tree. So far it's taken me two hours to put together, and I still have more purple balls to go on but I'm thinking enough is enough already.

I think my favourite bit is the fairy riding the purple unicorn.

Shall I send you a bit of our bright and chilly weather?

What a pretty tree! I spy owls. :)

I'm not a fan of the cold but right now I'd gladly take a day or two under 20C, if you could possibly manage that thanks. :-)

Yes, you spy owls... I never consciously set out to collect owls but over the years I've amassed a number of them in all different forms. It only seemed right that I should have some on my tree as well. I call it my pagan tree because there's not a single reference to Christmas on it at all.

I will do my very best. :)

I have collected owls over the years too. They're one of my special animals. :-)

There is something special about them.

Pagan white and purple, I like it! Love the ice-blue gnome too, and the owls... *g* Happy December! I'm trying to decide whether to have a proper tree in my new place, price-be-damned, or whether to use the wee artificial one I bought a couple of years ago just so that I'd always have one...

Belly dancing is ace - I did it for a bit years ago, and have a couple of dvds that actually, thinking about it, I can now get out and do again! It's good exercise, and rather fun. I didn't get very far with it, but I enjoyed it... *g*

Happy December to you too! And I think you should have a proper tree, as it's your first year in your new place. I'd have a proper one if it wasn't for my worry that the cats would chew it.

Ooh there are dvds? I must look! I did a bit of googling for classes but there aren't any on my side of the city at all.

There are dvds! I ended up years ago with the bellydance twins, Neena and Veena, and that link actually goes to the first of their dvds which is now on YouTube. I think it probably compares well with other sites/online things, and they seem to get other good reviews too. It doesn't look all that strenuous at first, but I remember feeling much fitter when I was doing it, because it actually does involve using muscles! I have the first four bellydance for fitness dvds somewhere, which get progressively more strenuous for exercise. And it was good fun, too!

That was so much fun! And now I need another shower *g*. Thanks for pointing me towards it.

Oh goody, someone else who puts fairies and elves on their tree! Mine has wizards, dragons and mermaids too! Love your colors!

My pagan friends have a tree they hang upside down from the ceiling...

A fairy and a unicorn, owls and birds and gnomes... I loved your porcelain decorations, though, and thought I shall look out for some too. In particular your dragon - he's cool.

Love the upside down tree! What a marvellously different idea!

Dragons are my favorite!

Dragons are great.

Yeah, the ice cream should help you get right off to sleep... Erm... *g*

The tree is lovely. I can't seem to be bothered to put one up this year but I'm enjoying catching glimpses of other people's trees.

Ice cream is a well known soporific *g*.

Thank you, I'm a bit pleased with it. I didn't put one up a couple of years ago - wasn't going to be home at the end of the year so didn't see the point - and I actually found that I missed it.

What a lovely Christmas Tree. I do love the colours.

How do you keep Bodie and Ziggy from wrecking it?
miwahni: Cats Yule feelin coolmiwahni on December 7th, 2014 10:22 am (UTC)
Thank you, I'm rather fond of the colours myself.

Yes, well - after Ziggy launched himself at each branch as I attempted to affix it in place, and then took off with the first two balls as soon as I'd hung them (have you any idea how fast those things can roll on a timber floor?) I gave up and quarantined both buys downstairs. Poor Bodie, he was good as gold but Ziggy needs company. :-(

Instead I have my girlies upstairs for the duration. They're all meh about the tree, it just provides a nice protected spot to sit.
