Sunday stuff
My niece's birthday is tomorrow and to celebrate we went to a paleo cafe in Paddington for lunch. No gluten, no dairy, just really tasty food freshly-made. Most meals came with a side order of sweet potato chips with lemon aioli which is just delicious but to my regret I couldn't get through them all. Probably just as well, my waistline didn't need the extra.

Earlier this morning I was wandering around my back yard in bare feet, ostensibly looking for weeds but in truth just loving the feel of the lush grass underfoot. We've had a couple of weeks of regular rain and everything has suddenly sprouted. Lawn was mowed on Wednesday but it's already looking untidy again. I'm not complaining, though; up to a few weeks ago my lawn was dry and crumbly underfoot.

Just about finished my Christmas shopping too now. I have two more gifts to buy and the decision has been made so it's just a matter of actually getting to the shops in question. Every year I swear that I'm going to start early, and every year it's a last-minute scramble, so I'm pretty pleased that this year I had just about everything done by late November.

Sounds lush, all of it! I love your description of the grass under you feet, I can just feel it... *g* And ooh - I happen to have a couple of sweet potatoes hanging around... though I'll have to think about the dip! Happy weekend (you efficient Christmas-er, you)!

I love walking barefoot on grass, it's such a refreshing, invigorating feeling. Until you stand on a bindi that is. *g*

I prefer sweet potato chips to normal potato, with or without the dip.

The lunch sounds lovely. While paleo diets have become very popular here I haven't heard of a restaurant for it yet... but I'm guessing they have a lot of them in California. :D

It's always a little odd to be reading about summer weather at Christmas, well for me at least. *g*

Good luck with the last of the Christmas shopping. I still have to order the UK Christmas presents but otherwise I think everything is done.

Paleo's the new vegetarian *g*. My niece is both gluten and lactose intolerant and she normally has very limited choices when she eats out, but at a paleo place she knows she can eat just about anything on the menu, which is great.

Christmas to me is cicadas, and impromptu cricket games in the back yard, and sitting outside in the shade while our Christmas dinner cooked because no-one in their right mind would be inside while the oven was on and the house was heated up to around 40 degrees. That was Christmas while I was growing up.

Nowadays it's more likely to be a prawn and mango salad with white wine, sitting in the airconditioning which blocks the sounds of any cicadas silly enough to be out in that weather.

I hope you don't have too many to buy for, then, or at least have a plan of attack! I'd be stressing out majorly if I left it that late. All this running about, though, and it's only for one day. Seems a bit ridiculous really.
