Bit of a strange day today
I've felt unsettled all day today. It started with an email via Linkedin, from the regional manager of the bank which bought the one I used to work for, inviting me for a coffee and to discuss opportunities to join her team. I really, really don't want to go back to targets and being customer-facing in a branch - but what if she has something else in mind? I won't know until I talk to her.

I was planning on ringing her during my break today, but discovered once I got to the bus stop that I'd left my phone at home. I didn't have time to go back and get it, not if I wanted to get to work on time. All day it's been like this weird itch, not having my phone. Amazing, really; ten years ago I was lucky if I remembered to turn it on, and now it's such a part of me that I was actually considering going to Optus at lunchtime, getting a new phone and having my number ported across. Yep, that bad.

Another email this morning advised me that my Subway card points are going to expire if I don't swipe my card at a Subway store before the end of the month. Thing is, the card is only valid in the UK, which means those points were collected in June, 2010 - four years and eight months seems to be a really random length of time for the points to be valid.

Oh, weird days... it's funny how things can be hard to shake off, isn't it - just the tiniest things that tip a day into not-quite-right... Hope your meeting goes well when it happens, and that it's full of good things, not backwards-things... I hate the whole idea of companies taking each other over (especially big ones) - I've just been reading about Warner Bros taking over a smaller film-making company, getting the legal right to use their film-rights as part of that, but somehow not seeing the same obligation to pay the original authors when they make the films - I'm not even sure how that can be in question! If you receive the benefits, then surely you should receive the responsibilities as well... So crossing my fingers for you!

How funny about the Subway card - maybe it was actually a 2 year validity, but they gave you... eight month's leeway?! *g* Still rather random, unless perhaps no one had the job of chasing it up for a while in between... /random guesses...

Hmm yes you're not alone in disliking takeovers, especially when you're employed by the one being taken over. Not wanting to rehash old grievances here but it's pretty sad when you see standards deteriorate, bringing my bank in line with the takeover company. Anyway, have rung, and left a message, and will see what happens.

Subway card is over four years old; must have been a LONG time without anyone chasing up pending expiries! *g*
