Bit of a strange day today
I've felt unsettled all day today. It started with an email via Linkedin, from the regional manager of the bank which bought the one I used to work for, inviting me for a coffee and to discuss opportunities to join her team. I really, really don't want to go back to targets and being customer-facing in a branch - but what if she has something else in mind? I won't know until I talk to her.

I was planning on ringing her during my break today, but discovered once I got to the bus stop that I'd left my phone at home. I didn't have time to go back and get it, not if I wanted to get to work on time. All day it's been like this weird itch, not having my phone. Amazing, really; ten years ago I was lucky if I remembered to turn it on, and now it's such a part of me that I was actually considering going to Optus at lunchtime, getting a new phone and having my number ported across. Yep, that bad.

Another email this morning advised me that my Subway card points are going to expire if I don't swipe my card at a Subway store before the end of the month. Thing is, the card is only valid in the UK, which means those points were collected in June, 2010 - four years and eight months seems to be a really random length of time for the points to be valid.

Yes technology has insinuated itself into our lives hasn't it? It's created a lack of patience in all of us as we're used to instant gratification now.

Odd that the old boss is contacting you, does she know something you don't know? That would drive me crazy.

Technology can be a two-edged sword for sure. I wonder what the world will be like for my grandkids.

I never actually worked for this lady; my bank, even after the takeover, always operated with a separate chain of command. I've tried ringing her today and it went to voicemail; we shall see.
