Bit of a strange day today
I've felt unsettled all day today. It started with an email via Linkedin, from the regional manager of the bank which bought the one I used to work for, inviting me for a coffee and to discuss opportunities to join her team. I really, really don't want to go back to targets and being customer-facing in a branch - but what if she has something else in mind? I won't know until I talk to her.

I was planning on ringing her during my break today, but discovered once I got to the bus stop that I'd left my phone at home. I didn't have time to go back and get it, not if I wanted to get to work on time. All day it's been like this weird itch, not having my phone. Amazing, really; ten years ago I was lucky if I remembered to turn it on, and now it's such a part of me that I was actually considering going to Optus at lunchtime, getting a new phone and having my number ported across. Yep, that bad.

Another email this morning advised me that my Subway card points are going to expire if I don't swipe my card at a Subway store before the end of the month. Thing is, the card is only valid in the UK, which means those points were collected in June, 2010 - four years and eight months seems to be a really random length of time for the points to be valid.

Well, it can't hurt to talk, can it? And you can stay where you are.

But ugh, yes, so annoying to be without your phone when you need it. I found it disorienting to be without the use of mine in the states last year, and bought a cheap temporary sim card just so that I could make phone calls.

Subway card - baffling! Can't help you, because I am hopeless with such cards.

That's right - as I told Drayce, my job is pretty-well perfect. It has its days, but so does every job, and there are no sales targets. I'm not sure I'm ready to jump back into targets again. Not now I've experienced life without them.

When I travelled overseas I was able to put my phone on "roaming"; I'm not sure how it works but I had to notify my service provider and they organised it. Calls to / from home were a LOT more expensive but at least they were possible when required, and I could text quite cheaply. I wouldn't feel comfortable without it for an extended period of time.
