Storm in a teacup
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Marcia is now heading out to sea, having expended the worst of her force on the north coast and largely dissipating before she reached Brisbane. In the end, all we had was some strong wind last night and a thorough drenching today, luckily.

My fitbit was only five weeks old when it stopped working on Thursday. I took it back today and they simply replaced it, no questions asked - I was pretty impressed with that, as I was expecting to be given contact details for the manufacturer. Thank you, Harvey Norman. :-) Funny how naked I felt without it yesterday and today; you wouldn't think five weeks would be long enough for it to feel as natural as it did to wear it.

Spent a couple of hours working this afternoon, logging in from home. I planned on logging out at 3pm but could have gone longer, if I hadn't had to see about the fitbit and do my grocery shopping. Funny how my work just doesn't feel like work; I am truly lucky in that regard. Just as well, too, as I still have a couple more hours' work to do tomorrow.

Off now to rescue dinner from the over, turn on the telly and maybe put on a dvd. Hope everyone else has a great weekend.

ETA: oh, teacup! Knew there was something else I wanted to mention! I got a voucher today for a photo coffee mug for $7 instead of the usual $29.95 - went through my folders of fandom-related stuff and picked out some of my favourites to add, collage-style, to the cup. Yes, I know I don't own the images but no-one else will see them, the mug will be for home use only so I'm not too worried about copyright issues. But I am really excited! Can't wait to see the finished product.

I'm very glad to hear that it missed you. ♥

Are you enjoying your fitbit otherwise? I've been humming and hahing about getting one.

I have the Flex and mainly I use the step counter and sleep tracker, I like it because it makes me more conscious of what I'm doing every day to the point that I modify my normal daily routines. I try very hard to make 10,000 steps each day and if my bus is not running late I get off two stops before my stop in the city just so I get some extra walking in. You can also log calories and other exercise - when I first got mine I was religiously tracking everything I ate but that got real old real quick.

On the other hand both my sister and my niece got one, wore it for a fortnight, took it off again... they both go to the gym etc but I think it didn't give them the kind of info they were after, without having to go online / onto their phones and manually enter the exercise.

But if you want a holistic look at your health and exercise patterns, and are prepared to spend a bit of time updating your info, then generally worth it I'd say. My only disappointment is that my phone is too old to sync with it, and my computer is running Windows XP which really doesn't cope with the program, so I have to log into my laptop to download the fitbit data. If your phone is newer than a Samsung Galaxy G2 then you should be okay.

Thanks for the info.

My phone is very basic by choice but my computers both at home and work would play well with it.

It is the holistic thing I'm looking for. I've fallen into a lot of habits and I really want to shake things up a bit.
