Hello my lovelies
How are we all on this sultry Tuesday evening? I'm enjoying the humidity at the moment, having just got back from an evening visit to my sister - her house is SO COLD I was glad to escape back to my own. Her air conditioning was cranked up full bore, and she's sitting there in the cold, with a cardigan on....

On Sunday night we played Broadchurch Bingo - every time we got something that David Tennant mentioned in that hilarious voiceover, we'd take a drink. We very quickly had a tally of five, and then my sister pointed out that the actor who played the judge was a guest on Dr Who once, bonus point to my sister for spotting that one.

Have been doing a crazy amount of overtime over the last couple of weeks but it looks like things are starting to settle back down. And I'm glad; as much as I like the extra pay (I have that wedding in NZ next year to save up for!) I'm also feeling a bit burnt out. Didn't log on to work at all over the weekend as I had visitors staying with me, and the couple of days total break was so very welcome.

There's a lady who catches the same bus home as I do, and she spends her trip scribbling in a notebook, then staring out the window, followed by another burst of mad scribbling. I like to imagine she's writing fanfic. :-)

Cold? It's 8am, and -16°C
:-)

Of course, the house is 22 :-)

Bloody hell that's cold. 31C today, and 36C predicted for tomorrow. That's a bit on the warm side, even for me.

That's way too hot for me!
In fact, -16 is not "that" cold... Unless of course you have to stay out all day :-/

I used to cross-country ski, years ago, and -15C was about the limit : any colder, and it's really no fun.
The best temps were around -10C : cold enough for good skiing conditions, but not enough to freeze one's b*tt off :-)

Also a bit chilly, even though I've got the heating on too, and it's nothing like minus anything here! I should probably get up from the desk and move...

If I finish my work tonight I might get to watch the last three eps of Broadchurch S1, but I'm not sure how likely that is to happen at the moment.

I like to imagine your woman on the bus is writing fanfic too... *vbg* I sometimes write on buses and things - I wonder if anyone ever wonders that about me? It's such a hidden thing, fanfic, even now - you never know who might be thinking about it...

I get cold in the air conditioning at work after sitting for a while, moving really does help.

I hope you got to finish Broadchurch S1 so now you can start on S2. I know it finished airing in the UK recently but here we've only had the first three eps of S2 so far. Loving it still.

It's just as well that telepathy isn't real - imagine the shock some people on your bus might get.*g*

I'm goign the third the reply of 'cold' and my co-workers just said "can we oepn the window"... I'm bloody freezing in here :(

Heh the scribble/stare/scribble sounds like me on the train on my way home from work. I chat with a friend on gchat during the day and often get inspired so I spend the commute hashing out random fanfic ideas!

What, are your co-workers born in the arctic or something? Do they not feel the cold? Having said that, there's one spot in my office that's freezing, while either end is quite warm so maybe that's the case in yours?

Travel time is great for putting your mind to work on story ideas. May as well make use of the commute.

Wow, one of my friends list is posting about moonlight skiing in the snow, and someone else is enjoying a sultry night! On average, I feel, we are all doing fine :)

I don't know Broadchurch, but I heartily approve of the game: while you imagine me playing it with B7, I can imagine you playing it with Broadchurch, and all is equal again (what a very balanced post :))

Good to have the extra money in the bank for such an important occasion, I reckon - enjoy it. And heh, I like your lady on the bus. I am rubbish at writing in a moving vehicle - my handwriting turns into a series of jagged lines and splotches. But yes, perhaps she is writing fanfic, what a lovely idea.

Broadchurch drinking game was such fun but shouldn't be played on a Sunday night, with work the next day. Was a bit foggy on Monday as a result.

Trying very hard to leave the overtime money in the bank, and avoid this lovely pair of ankle boots I found that would be just right for work this winter. *g*. Nah, commitment comes first.

Good to hear that you're getting a break from the overtime. Like you say, the extra money is nice but free time is priceless I think. :D

Yes, and there needs to be a balance. I don't mind doing some extra, and will always chip in when we're flat out and just not getting any traction, but it's nice not to have the pressure there to do it. Very hard to sit back when you know your colleagues are putting in the hard yards.

Glad to hear your work getting settle back! My work is getting busier. I should say it not hectic yet. At least I can leave the office by 8pm. I don't like overtime work except overtime way pay!

It's getting warmer here. We can feel approach of Spring surely :-)
miwahni: Pros B & D doorwaymiwahni on March 4th, 2015 10:44 am (UTC)
Yes the overtime pay does compensate, doesn't it. At least I can do it from home, too; leave work at my normal 5pm, come home and have dinner and feed my cats, then log into work from home. That way I can work late without worrying about a long bus trip late at night.

We're heading into my favourite time of the year, autumn, with its warm days and cooler nights, just a hint of the cold weather to come.
