Dollars and no sense

What with holidays coming up soon I've been trying not to spend any money, at least not on discretionary things. To help myself stop impulse buys I've been leaving my credit card at home and only taking my debit card in case of emergencies; it's amazing how differently I think about purchases if the money is going to come straight out of my account.

Anyway, it's been a successful strategy, aided by changing my lunchtime walk. I used to walk up to the top of the shopping mall and back every lunch time, adding another 2km to my daily tally, but now I walk along by the river which is so much more peaceful and cool as well, with the breeze not being blocked by the high rise buildings.

Then this morning I got an email from the bank, telling me that my credit account and my phone were both eligible for paywave payments direct from my phone, and all I had to do was to set them up. Which I did, in the bus on the way to work - so now I don't need my credit card to make a credit purchase and I'm wondering why I thought that was a good idea. Of course I can disconnect from the payment system but ooh shiny I want to try it out....

Big storms predicted for tomorrow and the weekend, with tomorrow's storm set to bring hail. It's been really sticky all week and with temps in the mid thirties, adding rain into the mix isn't going to make it any better. Ah well could be worse, it could be snowing. :-)Seriously, I'll take the heat and the humidity any day.
