It's one minute past midnight...
...which means that it's now exactly 312 days until I get on a plane and fly to the UK. Finally did it today - booked my return tickets, business class if you please (thank you frequent flyer points!) for what we're calling B & D's Final Hurrah (part one). No, not Bodie and Doyle (sadly) but my sister and me. Realising that once we're retired there won't be money for grand tours, so we'd better get as much in now as we can.

We've talked about this ever since we got back from our first foray together, in 2010, so it's been a while in the making. We're including a cruise in the trip, too. Originally we were wanting a Viking cruise that went from Bergen to Istanbul but the sailing dates for next year have been cancelled. I don't see why the fact that three of the ports of call were in DFAT No-Go zones is enough to cancel a cruise, but there you go. *g*. The one we've selected now is shorter, at seven nights, and sails from Southampton to Copenghagen via Belgium, Holland, Germany and Sweden. I can see we'll need to rewatch Danny Kaye's Hans Christian Anderson, just to get in the right frame of mind for our destination.

I can barely sit still I'm that excited, and my sister is already making lists of clothing to take. The countdown has begun!

Sounds ace! I'm curious about which three ports between Bergen and Istanbul are no-go areas though...? And whereabouts in the UK are you going to be? Everywhere? *g* And where are you going for Part Two? And... and... *g* So much fun to have a holiday to look forward to!

The no-go red zones are Istanbul and Tunisia, while Paris is an Orange alert - for necessary travel only. It's a pity as I was looking forward to Istanbul, but can always travel there once things have settled down.

*Everywhere* is not quite accurate as Scotland is off the schedule at present, but we're planning a week in London plus time in Ireland and Wales before flying home out of Manchester.
