I just can't make sense of this
It's been a terrible week in Queensland, this week; firstly with the Dreamworld tragedy - which really hit home across Australia; I think nearly everyone who ever went to Dreamworld would have gone on that particular ride - and then yesterday with the senseless murder of the bus driver, not all that far from where I live. The first tragedy was a terrible accident but the second was so random; I can't fathom it at all. I just feel for the families in both incidents. Just terrible, sad events.

The bus driver shocked me, I understand the perpetrator may have had mental health issues.

But I've been in customer facing jobs myself and, although there's always the awareness of risk at the back of your mind, you never really expect not to come home from work

Such a senseless act. Sometimes you have to wonder at the way the universe works.

I'm really having trouble comprehending this. On the news tonight his lawyer said that he's numb, and trying to process what he's done, and is going in for psych evaluation. I cling to the last part of that statement; horrible to think that anyone could do something like that in their right mind.

Fanatics do.

But I regularly use the bus and I look at the usually quite chirpy drivers, it's unusual to get a grump, and try to think where your head would need to be at to do that to some ordinary Joe just doing their job.

My thoughts are very much with his family. My own brother-in-law drove a bus for a while and I think how it would have affected us.

No winners here.

That's it - I get the bus into the city every day and on the whole the drivers are friendly and chatty too. There is just no reason for this.
No winners, you're so right. I wonder how the perpetrator's family is feeling right now.
