12 - weekly roundup

Sad news about Peter Capaldi leaving Dr Who - I liked his 12, far better than Matt Smith's 11. I hope that his replacement is as good; let's start a campaign for Rupert Graves!

Am hoping that Moffat's exit from the doctor will leave him more time for Sherlock episodes, assuming the BBC commissions another series.

I have a cold, the first proper cold I've had in ages - thinking back, it would be December 2010 the last time I had one. And of course it had to come on overnight Thursday night, meaning I'll be fine by tomorrow after a weekend of misery.

I'd like a day off work so I won't mind if I still feel under the weather tomorrow. Work has just been doing my head in recently with new rules, and new jobs to be done with each loan approved, but still the same time frame to approve each loan and it's already not an achievable goal so adding extra to it does not help. We've been told that we're about to get a LOT busier but no extra people are coming on board. Reminds me of 2015 - the year that vanished in a flash because I was doing two hours' overtime from Monday to Thursday nights and then backing up again on the weekend. Not this time, though - I felt like I was burning out by the end of 2015 and I'm not getting any younger. Plus I have other things I want to do with my evenings, not work from 7.30 to 9.30pm.

Two new books this week, added to my TBR pile - Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey, which looks totally relatable, and a signed copy of Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman.
